Target classification (Level 2)

A simplification of the "categorization" dataset: radar and lidar targets are shown in 9 different classes, including different types of cloud, precipitation, aerosol and insects.

Cloud fraction (Level 2)

Cloud fraction by area and volume calculated from the target categorization dataset. The corresponding cloud fraction from the various models is shown for comparison.

Ice water content (Level 2): IWC-Z-T method

Calculated from radar reflectivity factor and temperature using an empirical formula derived from the EUCREX aircraft dataset (Hogan 2003, document in preparation).
